Popular Santa Barbara Beaches

Beaches of Santa Barbara

Summer never truly ends in Santa Barbara, and there’s never a bad day for a beach day.  Regardless of what neighborhood you are visiting, you are likely just a short drive away from one of many sandy shores.  Here are some of our favorite beaches to check out during your vacation:

Carpinteria

Bring the whole family down to these sandy shores.  Surrounded by a protective reef, calm waters and tidal pools encourage children and adults to take a dip.  If you are visiting during the Winter seasons, you may even get lucky and spot a pod of dolphins or whales passing through.

East Beach

Another great spot for children and families.  Pack your sunscreen because you will be here all day from the children’s playground, picnic areas, volleyball courts, and rollerblading and biking trails.  Bring a picnic or stroll down to a strip of restaurants, but please help keep our beaches clean and pick up after yourself!

Leadbetter Beach

This busy beach is well known for its sporting opportunities and events.  Locals often come here for surfing, swimming, and special events that are held throughout the year.  Showers and restaurants are conveniently close.

Goleta Beach Park

Privacy and exciting activities all in one beach?  Goleta Beach Park tends to be less crowded and features free parking.  Pack a bag for a daytrip because your activity options are endless. Rent a kayak, bond over a little friendly competition of volleyball or horseshoe, fish off of the pier, or lay back and work on a golden California tan.

Arroya Burro Beach (Hendry’s Beach)

Who doesn’t love dogs running around on a sandy beach?  This is a rare gem where you can let your furry four legged friend  off leash.  Play fetch and let your pup enjoy the blue waves crashing in. When you are both tired out, take advantage of the free pet wash station before heading home.

Mesa Lane Beach

Searching for ultimate privacy and to relax among the locals?  Mesa Lane Beach is nestled between private homes down a flight of stairs.  Arrive before high-tide and catch a mesmerizing sunset.

Butterfly Beach

Speaking of sunsets – check out renowned Butterfly Beach to watch the most breathtaking sunset transform the sky to gorgeous pinks and golds.  Unlike most Santa Barbara Beaches which face South, this sandy shore faces West offering a sight you will never forget.
