LBJ Family Retreat | 3BR, Sleeps 10, Pet-Friendly

Generally speaking we enjoyed our stay. location was great and the place is pretty modern, nice, and clean. But there were some issues: The kitchens dishes and utensils did not get very clean from previous guests. We started to hand washing everything until we realized just how bad it was. We called and they immediately sent someone out to clean up better. We had read about the steep stairs other guests have commented on but we were surprised that there was more to it - there were little 1x2 pieces of wood that were part of the stairs that were in the inside corner of the instep, so when your foot steps down your heel will step on this little raised piece of wood. Additionally, the light in the stairwell could be turned on or off from the top or bottom of the stairs. which sounds great, except that if it was off at the top of the stairs you might have to go down to the bottom to be able to turn them on. The handrail for the stairs also started on step two or three which seemed odd.

The lighting is designed to be controlled from designated switch points for safety, and we have since ensured it is clearly labeled and functioning as intended. The handrail has also been checked to confirm it is secure and properly installed. Grand Welcome Austin and Highland Lakes was amazing. We were able to dock our boat overnight right outside which made for easy access. We would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for spring break with a few friends and we all had the best time. Enough bed to fit all of us comfortably and kitchen was fully stocked and made it easy to cook dinner. Only issue we had was the water heater went out one day but after a message to the host and help from some of the guys in our group we were able to fix it! Overall an amazing place and dying to come back!

We loved our stay here. Our favorite part was certainly the shared dock amenity where we could pull our boat up during the day for quick stops back to condo. It was also a great spot to sit back and watch sunset. We hope to be back soon!

The house is near the water which is great and is listed as 3 bedrooms, however, the bunkroom is not a real bedroom and leads directly into the garage. It also has challenging staircases in order to get to the bedrooms on the upper and lower floors. The self-entry lock had issues and we were continuously were locked out of the property multiple times.

Pros: location, master bathroom, and appliances. Cons: unable to access garage; dead bugs covering bed linens in master BR; upstairs landing light was out, dangerously dark during night; stairs are steep with narrow steps. And response from property manager was argumentative and based on misinformation -- totally unacceptable, Not helpful. We understand things happen, but no offer to help or to address problems.

Regarding the bugs, we understand how unsettling that must have been. As we mentioned during your stay, the bugs were mignon and likely entered the master bedroom because the door had been left open, which attracted them to the light. We’ll make sure future guests are reminded to keep doors closed to avoid this issue. As for the garage and the light, we discovered after your stay that the garage door opener had been unplugged and the upstairs light was functional. We apologize if this wasn’t communicated clearly, and we’ll strive to ensure our responses are more helpful and understanding in the future.
