Sea Ranch Studio Cabin Nestled in the Forest

Needed a place to stay for my son's wedding at the Sea Ranch Lodge. This place was perfect for two people. Great location and very quiet. The Japanese Tea House theme was very nice. Would stay here again. Host let us get in early which helped with logistics. (The only thing I wish the house had was a Keurig.... the big coffee pot was a bit much when I only wanted one cup.)

We had a few incredible days staying in this little romantic Japanese tea house nestled in the sea ranch redwoods. Fortunately, we didn’t have the same issues as the last reviews e.g the windows did have shades. It does require you to be a little resourceful (eg make your own bed) and is very Japanese minimalistic but overall we loved it! Nice, clean bathroom and kitchen. Fireplace is the only source of heating but is very cute and effective. Japanese tea cups/coffee setup, yoga mats, shoji screens and heated toilet seats etc were a nice touch. We found the mattress pad only on our second night but that made the sofa bed a lot more comfortable. Same for path lights leading up to the house through the redwoods- not included in instructions clearly but made the walk up and down really nice once we figured them out (better labeling would help!). Enjoyed the trails outside the house and saw lots of wildlife (deer, foxes, rabbits walking right up to the window in the AM!). Would come back!

I loved the place with 2 exceptions. the most challenging was the bathroom sink. We could not get it to drain. Additionally, but I don't know if this could be helped, the freezer in the refrigerator was able freeze the ice cubes so I assumed it would freeze anything else. Our ice cream melted completely.

This Japanese tea house-inspired cabin was everything we were looking for in our Sea Ranch weekend getaway - a nice, cozy, comforting space deeply nestled in a forest. The Japanese tea house aesthetic only elevated the experience, with clean wooden interior furniture, sliding wall panels, a thermostat-controlled mini fireplace, and a consistently fresh, earthy hint of tea leaf scent. We loved our stay here, but have only a couple minor grievances - the pull-out bed is not the most comfortable, and there are a couple windowed walls that don’t have any means of covering them, the most questionable being the bathroom windows. If these issues could be ironed out, we’d be looking at the perfect spot. Overall, this cabin is a great choice for those that want to spend some time in nature.

Lovely studio in the trees. Great views from the windows into the woods creating a wonderful ambiance. Space is contemporary, nice design. Sofa bed is marginally comfortable, not all windows provide privacy, and the studio had a strong musty odor that did not dissipate. Had to sleep with doors and windows open at night...not ideal. For this reason I gave 3 stars overall. All else was good.

This place absolutely has the potential for five stars. The location was stunning, the neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful, and the house itself was beautiful. The heated toilet seat/bidet was a nice addition and we enjoyed the chairs outside with a serene view of the forest and wildlife. It’s less than a 10 minute drive to the beach and the whole neighborhood is quiet and very walkable. Unfortunately we had some pretty disappointing complaints. The first issue was the bedding we received was heavily stained. We did receive new bedding within an hour after asking. Privacy was terrible. Wide open windows with no coverings face the neighboring house with a clear view between their windows and our bed. The bathroom window had no coverings and had a clear view of the walking path to the house and the main road. The kitchen had two pots and one (heavily used) pan, but absolutely no cooking utensils to be found. When these issues were brought up, we were offered no solutions or help.

This location is stunning. I loved the style of the home and how beautifully it’s nestled into the forest. It’s incredibly serene—you can hear birds throughout the day, which made the stay feel peaceful and grounding. The gas stove added a cozy ambiance, and we appreciated thoughtful touches like the pour-over coffee setup and the deck chairs, which were perfect for enjoying a quiet morning outside. That said, the space could be more comfortable. The sofa converts into the bed, so you have to switch between couch and sleeping modes, which is inconvenient. In bed mode, there’s no backrest, and with only one additional chair, relaxing indoors was difficult. The dining setup (two stools) is also awkward, with limited legroom. It’s also not ideal for those seeking privacy—there are large, uncovered windows (including in the bathroom). While the trees help, neighboring home is still visible.
